Try visiting the nearest park on weekends. Chances are that you’ll come across parents shoving attractive and lavish buggies. Are these pushchairs becoming part of fashion accessories nowadays?

There are a lot of accessories available in the market that entices parents to buy not because of their functionality and practicality but sometimes, they just add aesthetic value to the double buggies. Some of the designs and colors of baby wraps, snuggles and foot muffs are obviously more of fashion accessories that meant to attract rather than to bring comfort.

However, some accessories are really essential for additional safety and comfort of the toddlers. A good example is the lock clip that lets you attach your double pushchair in your car to reduce the risk of theft. A rain cover is definitely a must for obvious reason. And when you’re out on the road and your buggy tires get soft, tire pumps are very useful.

When you think of buying accessories for you double buggy, think of the word “necessity”.

For most parents who want to shop for a double pushchair for their twins or two toddlers, weight probably is the least factor they would consider because their eyes feast first on the elegance and style of most brands in the market.

But for those who spend most of their time outdoors with their 2 children and use public transport or those who live in flats where it’s necessary to get the buggy up and down in flights or stairs, weight definitely is the most important issue.

Nearly all double buggies are heavy because of double load but if you try to look closer and be more resourceful, there are lighter options around.

Some of the lightest twin buggies around include the MacLaren Twin Triumph and Cosatto You2 Twin. Although light, both are sturdy with durable big wheels and great suspension.

If life forces you to be mobile most of the time with your kids, the weight of your double buggy should be a top priority.

If you’re having difficulty about choosing between, a 3-wheel or a 4-wheel double buggy, take a little more time to consider some information about them.

When it comes to style, appearance, durability and safety, there’s not much distinction between the two types. The most noticeable difference between 3-wheel and 4-wheel buggies is the ease with which they can be maneuvered.

A 3-Wheel buggy is a very practical choice especially when you live in the country with harsh terrains. Because it has one swivel at the front, maneuvering seems effortless even with heavy load. However, if you live in the city without much worry about slopes and hills or muddy and rough roads, 4-wheel pushchair is more practical because it usually costs less.

Some models of 3-wheel pushchair are very wide and heavy that it would be difficult to put inside a small car. You should check first the specifications of your buggy before buying one. Your choice of double buggy absolutely depends on your needs.

The cheapest double buggies on the market do not include features that are sometimes necessary. For practical and budget-conscious parents, they choose the basic design and just buy accessories as needed.

Business-wise, some brands offer a complete set of accessories that match your buggy at a discounted price. You might easily be tempted to grab one. The idea of buying a set of accessories is not really dire but sometimes, some of the pieces in the set are not really practical and will only be used occasionally.

Accessories like sun and rain covers are essential ones. Carrycots, travel bags, car seats, snuggles, foot muffs and others could be optional unless, of course, you deem some or all of them necessary.

Adding accessories to your double buggy whether in set or in pieces depends on your preference and financial capability but it is always good to buy intelligently.
